Customer Service Trainer/Motivator

Mr. Michael G. Meines was born in Monterey, California on March 12, 1947. 

 

Mr. Meines spent seven years in the U.S. Army and had assignments in Kassel and Pirmasens, Republic of Germany; Fort Hood, Texas; Fort Devens, Massachusetts and the Republic of Vietnam.

 

In his civil service career, he served as the Public Affairs Officer for the Military Intelligence Center and School at Fort Devens, Massachusetts; Media and Community Relations Officer, I Corps and Fort Lewis, Washington; Public Affairs Officer, Troop Support Command, St. Louis, Missouri; Public Affairs Officer, Letterman Army Medical Center, San Francisco, California, Deputy Public Affairs Officer, Military Traffic Management Command, Oakland, California; Public Affairs Officer, Naval Medical Center, Oakland, California and Public Affairs Officer, Madigan Army Medical Center, Tacoma, Washington.  Mr. Meines retired from Civil Service on February 1st, 2006 with thirty-three years of combined service.

 

He began teaching customer relations for the military in 1988 and expanded his program to include government agencies and civilian corporations upon his retirement.

 

In 1998, Mr. Meines was appointed the Director of the Army Medical Department’s Center of Excellence for Customer Relations by the then Surgeon General of the Army, LTG Ronald Blanck.  He created and developed a Customer Relations Train-the-Trainer program for the entire Army Medical Department and produced over 2,000 trainers for the military.  He conducted Train-the-Trainer courses in Germany, Japan, Korea and several locations in the United States.

 

Mr. Meines has also presented his philosophy to the Washington State Patrol, Department of Labor and Industries, Department of Health and Social Services and the Department of Natural Resources.

 

Also, he has spoken to Mason County and Thurston County employees in Washington State.  The employees of the cities of Olympia, Everett, Redmond, Bellevue, Belfair and Anchorage, Alaska, Portland, Oregon and the police departments of Olympia, Bellevue and Lacey have also heard his positive message. 

 

He has presented to numerous fire departments, including Woodinville, Bellevue, Seattle and Thurston County.  He has also been the keynote speaker for the Critical Incident Stress Management Network Conferences and the Emergency Preparedness Conference. 

 

He was keynote speaker at the American Public Works Association Fall Conference, the American Water Works Association Conference and Military Medical Facilities Conference

 

He has also presented to St. Joseph, Evergreen, Johns Hopkins, U.S. Public Health Hospital in Boston and Multicare Health Systems.  He has done several presentations to the Digestive Health Specialists Group of Tacoma.

 

In addition to government, hospitals and law enforcement agencies, Mr. Meines has also presented to Shell Oil Company, Anchor Bank, America’s Credit Union, Seattle Public Library, Inland Empire and North Central libraries, Peninsula College and the North Mason and Bellevue School Districts.

Mrs. Carole Meines was born in Aberdeen, South Dakota.  Upon graduation from High School, she entered the Army as a Medical Specialist and was later trained as a Psychiatric Technician.  She served from 1959 to 1961 at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center, Colorado and Fort Hood, Texas. 

As a civilian, Mrs. Meines worked as the Secretary for the Emergency Medicine Residency and as a Medical Clerk, Floater for Departments of Surgery and Emergency Medicine at Madigan Army Medical Center, Tacoma, Washington from 1980 to 1988. 

In 1988, she went to Letterman Army Medical Center at the Presidio of San Francisco, California, where she was Administrative Assistant to the Chief of Primary Care.  In 1990 she became the Assistant Quality Assurance Coordinator and later Quality Assurance Coordinator.  In 1993, she became Administrative Assistant to the Deputy Commander for Administration, Deputy Commander of Clinical Services, Chief Nurse and Clinic Director as Letterman was going through the base closure process. 

Mrs. Meines returned to Madigan Army Medical Center in July, 1994 as the Credentials Management Coordinator.  Mrs. Meines became one of the Army’s first Certified Provider Credentialing Specialists and was sought throughout the Army Medical Department for her expertise in the credentialing field.

In 2001 she accepted the position as Graduate Medical Education and Continuing Medical Education Program Director.  A position she held until she retired on March 1st, 2007. 

Mrs. Meines was a Girl Scout Leader for nine years, is a former member of International Training in Communications and is a member of The National Association Medical Staff Services. 

Mrs. Meines' awards include the second MAMC recipient Employee of the Quarter, The  Commander's Award, from both Letterman Army Health Clinic and Madigan Army Medical Center, two Department of the Army Superior Civilian Service Awards, the Department of the Army Achievement Medal and the prestigious Order of Military Medical Merit. 

She is married to Michael G. Meines, former Madigan Public Affairs Officer and CEO of the Army Medical Department’s Center of Excellence for Customer Service.  Together they have four children and seven grandchildren.

Mrs. Sherla Brockway was born in Tacoma, Washington, where she lived
until she attended Washington State University in 1962.  She received a BA in Education from Eastern Washington University in 1966.

Mrs. Brockway joined her husband in his military career and served as an
Army officer’s wife for twenty three years.  During that time she taught as an elementary school teacher and substitute teacher in the DOD and civilian school systems, moving twenty times in twenty years.

Mrs. Brockway joined the Public Affairs Office at Madigan Army Medical
Center in February, 1994 as a Red Cross volunteer.  After nearly one year, she was hired as a Public Affairs Assistant and later a Public Affairs Specialist.  She served as the Deputy Director for the Army Medical Department’s Center of Excellence for Customer Relations program, coordinating and implementing the train-the-trainer courses and refresher courses, which were conducted several times a year.  She served as a co-instructor for the AMEDD program and taught the Madigan’s mandatory customer relations and in-service classes to internal staff members.  Among other duties Mrs. Brockway served as the director of the Madigan tour program, training guides, coordinating all tours and conducting VIP tours.  She retired in December 2006.

She is married to retired Army Lieutenant Colonel Chuck Brockway, has
two daughters and four, soon to be five, grandchildren.

Rob Meines Banner

Robert Meines was born on December 27, 1967 in Auburn, Washington and the Puget Sound region has been home for most of his life.

Rob Followed his father's footsteps into the military.  He served eight  years in the Army reserve where he was trained as a public affairs specialist, receiving awards for his writing skills and photography.

For the past 12 years he has done sales work for the irrigation/landscaper industry in distribution and as a factory representative.  He prides his approach on low pressure and building long term relationships with his customers.  Customer service is the driving force behind this approach and he believes is the number one reason for successful business.

Rob is also a family man.  He has a lovely wife, Allison, and two terrific children, Eric and Leah.
